Emiliano Marinucci has been a long time artist in the visual field collecting many awards and a career exploratings the meaning of Baroque. The spiral element, the flavor, the spikeness of sour sound of the violin. His work on the artist Arcimboldo explorates the painter’s close connections with music, expressed in his notation experiment with colors and the creation of a chromatic lute with quarter tones on the frets expressed also by colors.
This was all experimented at Rudolf II’s court in Prague where master of the music were polyphonic masters as Verdelot. Italian polyphony was about to bloom in Palestrina style but the eccentric figurations and omophonyc style echoed freely in the chapel in Prague. The assemblation of different elements suggest the relation with Matéo Flecha’s Ensaladas, compositions of different emphatic style about earthly subjects… Like the fire of a city in the night, where the voices become the cry for water.
The study of Arcimboldo’s style is programmatic for recuperating the element of wonder in mannerism and baroque, through the sounding spiral of the violin’s head, in the ascending beauty of Gimabologna’s figures, straight to te flavors in the recipes of Messibugo and the music of Monteverdi.
